Anyone have any experience of using the bike carrier on the rear of the Captur?

If so did you have to purchase the quick release towbar?

Local dealership seem to think I need both (although have admitted to not really knowing) which makes it pretty expensive (about £700 for both) when comparing with a roof rack (£108).

You'll need a towbar of some sort, with the basic electrics. You don't have to buy a towbar mounting cycle rack from Renault, other independent makers do them.... try Thule. But most of them have duplicate rear lights and number plate area since the original car-mounted ones will almost certainly be covered by bikes when they are in the rack.

Thanks, great advice on Thule - really good videos on hot to set everything up.

Interestingly the dealer said to go independent as would be cheaper than through renault.
