When driving the boot often makes a fast clicking noise, interior lights and boot warning light come on to say pot is open. It is still shut and semi locked but obviously self unlocking somehow.... mainly when we stop at lights and start driving off again. Any advise much appreciated

It's possible the boot locking mechanism is playing up. This electrically powered lock incorporates the switch for the "boot open" warnings and lights. The problem is, with it being electrically operated, it's difficult to say at what place the fault is occurring. If the lock is getting a spurious message from the control module this could be due to many things (water ingress, low voltage). It could also be a faulty lock/switch assembly. A bad connection is a likely possibility if it can be cleared by driving away from rest. Does the lock operate properly with the key card, and with the dashboard lock button/switch? I would be looking at the lock first, checking connections and looking for signs of damp or corrosion on the electrical parts. Mind your fingers though, they are powerful mechanisms.

How old is the car? Could it be covered by warranty?
