Leaving aside the argument for/against putting a brand new car through a mechanical carwash, has anyone taken their Captur through one?

I read in the instruction manual that I should apparently "tape down the wiper blades".

I never used to do this on my Clio and, whilst the brushes used to move the wipers off the glass, they were not damaged in any way.

If you've been through a car wash with/without taping the wiper blades down please let me know the result.

If you have taped your wipers down, can you please explain how you did it (how much tape, at what angle, etc)?

Many thanks!

OK, so I gave this a go.

I had a look online and it seems this is mostly recommended for rear wiper blades on SUVs.

On the Clio it was the front wipers that used to get abused by the carwash.

I stuck two bits of tape over the rear wiper and left the front wipers as they were.

Tape survived on the rear wiper and the front blades weren't affected at all.

The car wash I use offers a black plastic sleeve to place over the rear wiper. This works a treat. I don't fuss about taping down anything. Though I do unscrew the aerial.

My Espace with its HUGE windscreen never had a bother either.
