Hello

Just bought a 2016 1.5dCi 110bhp Signature!

I have a question about the display icon that advises you to change gear. It seems to prompt me to change to a higher gear much earlier than I'd have expected after years of driving other diesels. When gently accelerating or maintaining a pretty steady speed, the Captur suggests changing to a higher gear at about 1800 rpm, which means that after changing gear the engine is running at about 1200 rpm. This seems rather low, is this normal and in the best part of the torque/power range?

Thanks

The problem with all these "change gear" indications is that they cannot take account of the engine load - are you going uphill or downhill, is the car heavily laden etc But I also reckon that 2000 rpm is, in general terms, the minimum at which you should change up

Just ignore it, like the eco button. It's trying to be economic at the expense of performance.

Agree totally
You don,t need an indicator to tell you when to change gear surely
Too much crap tech being built into cars 😀
Your own judgement when driving should suffice.
cheers
