That's neat. It's a long time since Haynes produced a decent Renault manual. No auto box version unfortunately.

 

Haynes appeared to "downgrade" their workshop manuals to "user guides" or similar. The Captur one is coming up as "diagnostics and service" and online only (no paper "proper" manual). It seems that long gone are the days when they would buy a car and strip it down in order to write a manual about it

 

I liked the old proper workshop manuals Haynes produced, used many over the years on motorcycle, and cars

 

If anyone buys one I'd be interested to hear their views. I also have a collection going back to my 1949 2CV (I was oldish when I bought it).

I might be the one to bite the bullet and try this. Much like others have said, I would have preferred a hard (paper) copy, and have used just such Haynes manuals in the past to literally strip and rebuild several of my motorcycles.

They certainly got "lighter" as years have passed, but if this version contains most of what I'd expect/want, then £26 isn't too bad, as that's about half an hour's labour in an Indy garage, or about 5 seconds in a Renault main dealers! 🤪

Interestingly there is a 0.9TCE version available (based on my registration).

Finally, Haynes has released a manual. You can now choose your B-Max model or enter your registration number on their site to get the right version. This should help a lot of owners looking for proper guidance.

 

I have since been doing a little bit of reading around the Haynes AutoFix stuff. Interestingly, even Haynes themselves say it isn't a manual,

"Haynes AutoFix is not a Haynes Manual. We want to be very clear about this..."

and all the reviews I have read are from disgruntled purchasers suggesting it was a total waste of £26. The information isn't particularly vehicle or model specific, so the reviewers say, so I don't think I shall be bothering. Shame, as had it been a "proper" Haynes manual, I would have bought it without question.

Furthermore, to access most of what AutoFix has to offer you need an OBD reader. I have one, but if you didn't, that would be another additional cost. Once I can access the fault code, a quick Google search tends to do the rest, so I'm not sure quite what else AutoFix can offer to justify the price.

As such, I highly doubt I will be "that" person to bite the bullet and try this.

That is useful to know. I have used the old fashioned, paper, Haynes manuals when working on my motorcycles over many years.

I note the new manuals are "online only", which for me, detracts massively, as I like to have the book open in front of me when doing the job, but yes, I am sure it will have some value to some Captur owners.

That link is to a website that looks genuine and states that they have the right to sell the downloads but there is no contact information visible at all. (I cannot see a link to a Captur manual). Caveat emptor

 

Just some link farming for search engine optimisation purposes, nothing more.

 

I just wish @DavidCollins would 'farm his links' somewhere else and stop wasting our time and misleading people by pretending to be a genuine owner. Can't he/she/it be banned?
