Do a search for alloy rim protectors, there are a lot of firms in GB that do them, some stick on and some deflate the tyres and fit them that way.

lynG they stick on the side of your wheels and take the scuff marks rather than the alloy.also they can be put on your wheels once they are deflated to protect them when they are pumped up again.

Hi Lyn
I was going to tell you about rim protectors, but it seems other people got there before me.
I have never used them my self but when I came across them on line last week they seemed a good idea, have a look at Alloygator they have fitters all over GB. Hope this helps.

Has anyone had these fitted? What do they look like and how much? I only ask as the garage where i am getting my captur also fit these.
www.rimblades.com manufacture and sell these with prices ranging from £20 to £50 ish. Some are DIY fittings and some need 'professional' fitting.

If your dealer fits rim protectors, get a quote - I would be interested in prices.

The nearest fitter I have found is in Bristol...

Gee whizz......my order was £24.95 plus delivery and wil probably be 1 hour for me to fit or quicker........it will depend on which "type" you decide on as there are differing designs some need deflation of tyres some dont etc.......

I don't trust these rim protections. If they are uneven they canunbalancethe wheel and lead to direction problems. Except that, for the rims that require deflating tires, means that the tire won't be 100% in contact with the rim. So, there are chances for the tire to deflate over time or on some impact. Yes, they lookextremely good (really, I would like some for my car) but I choose safety first. Plus, the black diamond alloy wheels look very well like this too.

As promised after a quick fit (@ 30 mins) I did my Trims4Rims... can be a bit fiddly as they are really sticky but reasonably easy to do........pleased with them!!
