New laws have been brought in allowing the police to set up roadblocks and checkpoints so that they can determine if a persons journey is necessary with the power of arrest if they deem it is not and the issue of a fine. Necessity is a relative thing, what is important to some would not be to others. e.g. A trip to the off license to by booze(still open as they are an essential service. Really?) would be OK,me driving 12 miles to walk my dog in isolation in the countryside, would probably not be ok. Which is more sensible? I wonder if there will be the right of appeal against decisions made by the police? Will these laws be repealed as soon as the crisis is over?
