Welcome. At that age of vehicle, there will be just 3 engine choices, the 1.5 dCi or the 0.9 and 1.2 petrol. The 1.2 was originally offered as an auto only and manual transmission only became availabe some time later. AS far as the DPF issue goes, Renault appeared to have cracked it with the 1.5 which is known to have remarkably few DPF issues, so you'd be unlucky to get one that turns out to be problematic. Ours is approaching 50,000 miles and is now mainly used on trips to the local shops - journeys of a few miles each way - and fingers crossed, we have had no DPF woes nor anything emissions-related flagged at MoT time. The diesel has a can belt that will need changing about every 7 years and the petrol engines both have chain-driven camshafts although the 1.2 is notorious for problems and there was a "class action" lawsuit in the USA if I recall correctly (it is also fitted to some Nissan models). The 0.9 can feel a bit under-powered and as a result can use more fuel that you'd think, because you have to work the engine hard to get reasonable acceleration out of it. The 1.5 dCi...... well, I've had about 65mpg out of it when I drove it more when it was newer than it is now, that from an auto, and the smoothest auto I've driven in over 40 years. One thing to look for is "proper" maintenance - ideally make sure that there is service history that shows that the oil and filter have been changed annually. if they have, then 80,000 is not too high a mileage although I'm sure if you look around you can find lower
