Hi all, I am so happy I have found this community. I have read the post about the above problem and mine is a little more detailed and would appreciate any advice/experience.

About 2 months ago my check gearbox light came on and my car was struggling to stay in gear and then at points would rev up whilst driving. I took to a none Renault garage (lived to regret it) and they said it was the turbo (the same garage replaced this last year at nearly a grand) so I didn't trust it.

Took to another garage and they replaced the turbo and other parts and the car was running fine. Then 2 days in and I get the same warning signs and after about 30 minutes of driving the gearbox overheating sign came on and the car literally slowed to a halt on the road. Call said garage and they said it is technical and to take to a Renault garage.

After checking the feeds I am wondering if it could be the battery? Or a technical fault that can be updated at the Renault garage.

I live in the Middle Easy so batteries don't last long and I have had this one a couple of years. I am very tempted to get a new battery and go from there after reading here.

After spending over 2000 pounds, I am reluctant to even go the Renault garage for fear I will be told it is a big job that needs repairing when it could be a battery.

I would appreciate any advice. Thank you!

Do you have a good independent gearbox specialist yo u could take the car to? Do you have an OBD code reader, or a garage you can trust, to read the fault codes?
