Hi all,

I have a really weird air-conditioning problem that the dealer hasn't been able to identify.

Sometimes, when I drive, the air-conditioning just stops working and starts blowing hot (smelly) air. It doesn't matter if I turn off and turn on the car, the car isn't under load and doesn't matter how much revs.

After a while, it just starts blowing cool air. I am not able to find a pattern to this. I have checked the gas and the dealer has refilled the gas, but the problem still remains.

The difficult part is that it is not predictable when it happens. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. I have tried, leaving the car idle or putting it in high revs, but nothing turns it on. It just turns on whenever.

ECO mode is always off

Have they checked the clutch on the a/c compressor for correct operation? Looks like it may not be engaging correctly or fully. If they don't sound like they know what they are doing, I'd suggest contacting an A/C specialist

How old is your car? And why did the dealer refill the gas? After it has started blowing warm, does it ever go cool again? Has the a/c been repaired? Lots of possibilities (including the clutch above) but many point to a leak, or moisture in the system (freezing the expansion valve is one possibility if you turn off the a/c for ten minutes then it works again).
