Hi all. Have been away from forum for a while for various reasons. My Wife and I are thinking of upgrading to newer 68 plate Captur Iconic (Ivory/Black roof), but after making enquiry have found out they no longer do the 1.2tce just the 0.9tce. My question is, obviously, is the engine any good? The car will only be used around town but as we occasionally go to the Lake District from Essex would it be screaming it’s head off in 5th gear all the way there?Obliged to anybody that answers and it’s good to be back.

Hi Alnew, welcome back to the club! The consensus regarding the 0•9tce seems to be that if you shove four adults and luggage in the car it will really struggle. However if it's only you and your good lady it's ok. Personally, I'd still go for the diesel.

The 0.9 Tce engine is very good. We went to the Lake District in May (wife and myself) from Luton absolutely no problem. It cruises 75-80 mph easily and is quiet and comfortable. If you always have 4 adults/luggage, or do high mileage then maybe the diesel would be a better choice. I dont do the mileage to warrant the extra cost of the diesel. I'm changing my '66 plate for a new Gt-Line tomorrow, again with the 0.9 Tce engine. If you have'nt already i'd suggest you have a test drive in both, see which suits you best !

Thanks for the info. We’re chopping in our 66 plate for the Iconic. The car is mainly for she who knows best to go to n from work, less then 10 miles a day. Then once or twice a year the pair of us pop up to Keswick etc for a few days break. She likes to drive the car in “eco” so don’t think she would notice the power difference. I suppose from a mans point of view, a 0.9 seems rather inadequate.

Well.....we had it about 6 weeks and it was stolen, just over 500 miles on the clock. Hadn't even made first payment. It took 7 weeks before the insurance company got to look at it before it was written off. Car had been involved in a police chase and was in their compound, insurance company were denied access. We hadn't taken out GAP insurance ( I had got quotes and was going to sort it the weekend it was stolen). Ended up about ÂŁ1600.00 out of pocket. Let that be a lesson to everyone, GET GAP INSURANCE ON YOUR NEW CAR ! We now have another GtLine, again with 0.9 Tce engine (and GAP insurance) and we are very pleased with it.
