Hi @hook441 did you manage to resolve this issue, figure it out...it's started to happen to my 63 plate too, well, I'm struggling to get into first or second sometimes, briefly. I've always found reverse to be tricky, doesn't always engage immediately and when I first got the car I checked this site and it was mentioned as common on here so I never worried, just find it annoying. Would welcome if you had any updates since February, thanks.
