I picked up my black 1.5 dci on Monday filled her full since then I've done 170 miles and the gauge hasn't moved but the range has went up and down currently sitting at 550 miles. Also computer says av used 3 gallons is this accurate? And also for cold air to blow from outside does the system need to be switched on or is there a bypass to let air flow through the cabin? Apart from these 2 questions my new captur is amazing:)
Cheers chris

You need the fan to run if you want the aircon to work. If you turn the fan off, you will get just a dribble of ambient air coming in to the cabin. Drive on a bit more to get the gauge to work, the sender in the tank may be a little sticky when new. 3 gallons to do 170 miles sounds reasonable me :)

If your car has climate control, it is best to set it to auto, and adjust the temperature to make you feel comfortable. That is how the system is designed to work. If your car has other heater and cooling systems you may have to use the owners handbook to see how it works or use the on-line operator manual to check things that are specific to your car.
The fuel gauge does have a tendency to stay put for a while and then drop. This has nothing to do with how much fuel you are using. More to do with the quirky fuel sensor in the tank. It is usual.

Ok guess I will leave it on 1 when I'm too how and maybe use auto too. I know to expect that the needle might jut drop then. I got the car with 3/4 full and squeezed ÂŁ30 in it which was 22 litres is it possible that I over filled it and might still be quite full or There's less than where the needle is at the full line.

Hi;
There are people on forum who mentioned this before. It appears that you are only supposed to fill the tank to first 'click' of fuel pump. Whilst it is possible to get another 1 or 2 goes of the pump, this is not recommended. It would appear that the sensor in the tank can get 'stuck' to the top of the fuel tank, and can take a while to realign and can then fall suddenly to its true reading.
Filling to the first 'click' should be enough.

I'm a newbie myself and have found some brilliant responses/advice on this forum, and have also had quick responses to things I did not know how to do.

If like mine, I get about 200-250 and it drops to around 3/4 full and then the gauge drops dramatically to almost empty for the next 200-250... Strange!!!
Your computer miles range is just and indicater for your driving at that time and is the most useless readout and can drop right down again if in a lot of traffic and go right up when on a nice smooth motorway/ country road drive.Edited by: Giz1972
