RLink USB Fault

Picked up our new Captur two days ago. Everything great, we were really pleased until yesterday when I used the USB port for the first time.

I have an iPhone 6 and connected it to the RLink USB port using a standard Apple Lightning USB cable. The system connects and disconnects the USB, repeatedly and rapidly. I've tried different cables all with the same result. The media will play through Bluetooth, however using the USB cable to charge the phone causes the same issue with constant disconnections, interrupting the music, making it unlistenable.

Has anyone had this issue?

It's a fault with either the iPhone 6 or R-link unit. Several of us have the same issue. I can use my latest gen iPod touch and my iPad mini 2 and they both work fine.

I posted 2 videos hereof what my iPhone and my R-Link do.

Only solution for now is to connect the phone via bluetooth for music and charge it from the ciggy lighter.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. I had thought that it may be any device that uses the newer 'Lightning' cable but I guess the iPad mini 2 uses that connector?

We've got around the issue for now by using a portable charger, plugging that into the USB connector on the R-Link and plugging the iPhone into the charger.

It'e booked into the local dealer to be checked but I'm not hopeful...

Car back from the dealership. No improvement. The machanic who looked at it demonstrated to me how well it worked with his iPhone 5S - he connected it by USB and looked smug for all of the two seconds it took for the USB to disconnect. "Oh it didn't do that when I was testing it".

Apparently there is a software fix being released by Renualt "at the end of June". Not holding my breath.

It's ridiculous that the R-Link system is incompatible with the iPhone - not just the most recent models.

Get it fixed Renault!
